"I covered my face, I would have been blind by now" - Victim of Nigerian Security force abuse tells his story.

This 26-year-old man says he had acid sprayed on him on Biafra Remembrance Day in Onitsha.

This 26-year-old man (name withheld) was a rally when he was shot and then hid from security forces in a gutter.He said that when soldiers found him they poured acid on him.
"I covered my face. I would have been blind by now," he told Amnesty International. "He poured acid on my hands. My hands and body started burning. The flesh was burning... They dragged me out of the gutter. They said I'll die slowly."

FIFA: African footballer, 17, takes world governing body to court


A 17-year-old African footballer is taking FIFA to court, arguing football's world governing body is denying him the chance to further his career.
The legal move comes a month after FIFA hit Spain's football federation with a $216,000 fine for allowing two of its most famous clubs -- Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid -- to sign underage players.
 

76 confirmed dead in Colombian plane crash

An airplane with 81 people on board, including players from a Brazilian football team, has crashed in Colombia, the country's aviation authorities said.

Seventy-six people are confirmed dead following a plane crash outside Medellin, Colombia.
A charter plane carrying 72 passengers -- including players from Brazilian soccer team Chapecoense -- crashed near Rionegro, Colombia, according to the country's civil aviation department. Nine crew members were also on board.

Uganda orders schools funded by Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, to shut down

A legal tug-of-war between Ugandan authorities and a for-profit international chain of schools has led to the education provider being ordered to shut down in a matter of weeks, leaving the lives of thousands of pupils in limbo

 
Uganda's High Court has described the Bridge International Academies (BIA) -- which is funded by the likes of Microsoft's Bill Gates and Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg -- as unsanitary and unqualified, and has ordered it to close its doors in December because it ignored Uganda's national standards and put the "life and safety" of its 12,000 young students on the line.
